Re: MDM/EMM Technology you are using

We’re just now beginning to see a need for an MDM, but – shrinking budgets may have something to do with the
choice….and we have 2 distinct use cases: college-owned, which some folks want us to manage, and some folks want to
manage their own…..and the BYOD stuff, which we really don’t want to manage at all – but we want to be able to offer
them services if so desired…..

- JAMF/Casper is good, but not free….and tends to be great with Apple, but questionable on Windows….??

- Cisco’s Meraki *was* free, but we just heard they’re pulling back on their “free” offering – it’ll still be
free up to 100 devices (per institution – not per “site” or per “account”) – so, we’re anticipating that’ll be a bit
pricey….(but still a really cool interface!)

- We’re already a Symantec/Altiris shop – and Symantec just announced that they’ll be adding their MDM
solution to the educational suite, but we don’t know much about it, and we’ll be looking at that one, simply because it
will be free and available……(and if it integrates well with Altiris/Apple – it could work well….??)

Lots of options….

Michael

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has just purchased a small set of licenses to begin experimenting in this area. Our
first customer will be our athletics department who is wanting to manage devices they provide for student athletes.

We are also using Airwatch (beginning to phase that out) and Casper for iOS devices.

Hello, Every one.
Hope you are enjoying an excellent weekend.

We are working in our strategy to make the next steps in our BYOD policy and service, and wanted to know what vendor
are you using and how it worked for you.

I have searched in the archive of the list, but found just few posts related to this.
Have consulted Magic Quadrant form Gartner and check the report, also found an Info Tech comparison.

The vendors in the top are Airwatch, MobileIron, IBM MaaS360, and some place behinf SAP and Symantec.
But in the few posts in the list just 2 mention MobileIron, and 1 MaaS360.

Also checked the The Consumerization of Technology and the Bring-Your-Own-Everything (BYOE) Era of Higher Education in
Educause, but this analisys is from 2012, where states that the boom with come in the next 3 years, and do not mention
vendor preferences and why.

Could you share me your insights and/or experience in the vendor you are using?
If preferred to answer privately, please do so.

Regards.
