Are you evaluating the Grammarly "free" product or the  Grammarly@Edu? With the latter you should be able to get 
additional contractual privacy protections I would think, but with "free" products people should expect about as much 
privacy as they have paid for.

One thing odd I have seen is that Grammarly asks users for Oauth permissions to access profile and account information 
in G Suite.  So even though Grammarly may not be targeting you for ads other than for their premium product, Google 
might have added a user's relationship with Grammarly to the dossier used for targeting ads to users on their side.

On a side note as a Grammarly user for many years, I have switched to Microsoft Editor (premium via O365 licensing) and 
to have found it to be better suited for my personal needs then Grammarly's premium version was. If you have already 
accepted Microsoft 365, that may be worth promoting as an alternative.

The highly publicized issues w/Grammarly and security/privacy occurred in 2018, true.... but the real issues extend 
beyond those flaws that were subsequently addressed, to what exactly the company does with user data.

A company that must plead "we're not a keylogger!" protests too much, IMO.

If it's the grammar and not the spellcheck need driving this, why not propose something possibly less problematic like

   I have recently been asked to evaluate Grammerly for usage on University computers.  I have seen where there have 
been issues in the past with data security but they do not seem to be re-occurring.  The question has been raised  
about password security and disclosure of other sensitive info.  Grammerly's terms of service and privacy statements 
put the security of this information in the users hands.



   While I do not want to be the bad guy (but I will if I need to be), I also do not want to make this decision in my 
own private bubble.  I would greatly appreciate the communities input on this subject.
