Port forwarders - which one is best for HTTPS?

Hi,

I would appreciate any comments on the following topic:

We need to forward tcp connections to an HTTPS server. We will be 
forwading port 443 from one machine to port 443 on another machine. The 
whole system is to be as DOS resistant as possible.

So far we have found and tested following GPL/BSD tools, that seem to be 
working fine:

1) jumpgate 0.7
2) portfwd 0.26rc6
3) redir 2.2.1
4) rinetd 0.62

We have following questions:

1) Are any of the above unsafe or known to cause problems or known to 
crash under heavy load?

2) Which of the above you think is best?

3) Are there any other GPL port forwarders that you could recommend?

4) Are there any general issues with forwarding SSL connections in this 
fasion (the certificate will be issued for the forwarding machine's name).
