RE: unable to view FW-1 rules via gui

I have seen this happen numerous times .... The GUI seems to "lose sight" of the rules. One way of "seeing" them again Is to load the policy on the firewall form the command line i.e. FW load xx xx . The reconnect the GUI and you will find the rules .... MAGIC !!! sj
The reason this happens is that your rulebases.fws file in $FWDIR/conf has become corrupt somehow. If you try a "`vi objects.C' to remove an inconsistency with policy.W" as Horst Meyerdierks suggested, most of the time this will fail as the policy file will reference an object 'not in scope'. The most consistent way to fix this seems to be doing an 'fwm -g policy.W' which will regenerate a correct rulebases.fws entry for that policy file...
